Lost in the sAustin: June Monthly Events

From punk to country, Austin sauce is mysterious and easy to get lost in.  Lost in the sAustin is your monthly guide to can’t-miss music and art events in CapCity.

June Residencies

God bless a residency! In these troubled times, there is perhaps no greater emotional security than knowing you can try to make the gig again next week. Plus, get your culture fix for a good cause at special events Out Late, supporting the LGBTQ+ community, and Junkyard Nights, supporting resources for working musicians. (Yes, there’s a Venn diagram.)

Wednesdays at C-Boy’s Heart & Soul: Nakia for Out Late (Pride Showcase)

C-Boy’s is celebrating Pride with a weekly queer showcase headlined by blues-pop phenom Nakia. Support LGBTQ+ creatives on stage and at the Backdoor Bazaar, where you can shop crafts and browse resources for music and hospitality industry workers.

Wednesdays at Hole in the Wall: John Mutchler

“Playing songs and telling lies” is an Instagram-official motto for country-folk musician John Mutchler. Formerly the frontman for honky-tonk outfit The Golden Roses, Mutchler is at the beginning of his journey as a solo artist. Catch Mutchler’s residency for the rare sound of song that aren’t on the internet (yet).

Tuesdays at Hotel Vegas: Flags

Ever the hub for alt-rock amenities, Hotel Vegas is hosting Flags this month. Show out for some heavy yet easy-listening rock featuring punkish vocals. Special shoutout to their track Bummer Summer, because yeah!

Tuesdays at Sagebrush: Ryan Sambol

It’s hard to pin Ryan Sambol in a genre, but we can confirm he wears a cowboy hat. Beyond excellent musicianship, this is a residency worth catching simply out of curiosity about what he will play from his extensive and expansive discography.
